About EINS
The EINS (European Information Network Services) organisation provides GEM and the Complementary Services. GEM is a resource for scientific, technical and medical information. Complementary Services additionally provide news, business and legal information.
   
EINS is:
  • a series of Service Providers (online host systems) working in co-operation with the British Library
  • a network of National Centres providing customer support
  • a Technological Centre, CINECA, providing computing, networking and Internet facilities
  • an Administration Centre, COBIDOC, providing statistical usage data, invoicing data and liaison with Service Providers
The organisation is co-ordinated by the British Library.
   
Service Providers
Most Service Providers are online information organisations that have agreed to work in co-operation with EINS, to make a selection of their databases accessible through GEM. Additionally, CINECA provides databases on its own computer if they are not available elsewhere. The Service Providers are:

   
National Centres
A network of National Centres provides customer support, training, invoicing and promotion of the service. National Centres are located in:

Some National Centres provide customer support to customers in countries other than their own.

   
European Economic Interest Group (EEIG)
EINS has formed an EEIG, which gives an enhanced legal status to the organisation.
